The new BMW M3 (F80) has been spied once again, ahead of an official reveal set for later this year or early 2014.

Under the hood it is expected to feature an inline-six 3.0-liter S55 turbocharged engine producing 415 hp (310 kW) and 395 lb-ft (535 Nm). This engine will also power the upcoming BMW M4 Coupe (due in late 2014), which will be the range-topping model of the new 4-Series set to arrive this year with Coupe, Cabriolet and GranCoupe versions in the pipeline.

Getting back to the M3, its weight should drop to around 3,415 lbs, thus making it a lot lighter than the M3 E90 (3,726 lbs) and the M3 E92 (3,704 lbs). Weight saving measures will include a CFRP roof, aluminum hood, doors and boot lid, along with optional ceramic brakes. BMW will offer a six-speed manual transmission and a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox which later on will receive an eight ratio.

The 2014 BMW M3 is rumored to go on sale in June 2014.
