These are the first spy photos with Jaguar's upcoming entry-level sedan set to tackle the BMW 3-Series and other cars in this segment.

There were some rumors about a smaller Jaguar sedan and now we know for sure the British brand is working on such a model. Seen here is a prototype wearing XF clothing but with a different roofline, shorter doors, rear deck lopped off and a different exhaust.

The new model could get the XS moniker and will probably ride on the firm's Premium Lightweight Architecture (PLA) platform which is expected to shave off some weight. Known internally as X760, the baby Jaguar sedan will most likely be offered with 4-cylinder turbocharged and 6-cylinder supercharged engines.

Reports are indicating a 2015 market launch, followed by a new all-wheel drive crossover riding on the same platform.
