Our latest spy video with the GLA shows Mercedes-Benz continuing to test its A-Class-based compact crossover which will tackle other models such as the BMW X1.

About a month ago there were some speculations that Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche confirmed plans of bringing a near-production concept at Shanghai Auto Show (April 21-29). He added the production-ready model will be showcased in September at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show.

Based on this video and previous spy photos, the Mercedes-Benz GLA will take a lot of styling cues from the A-Class but with an increased ride height, roof rails, sweptback headlights, prominent front grille and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.

Engines will be borrowed from the model it's based on which means it will be offered with several 4-cylinder units with outputs of up to 211 HP (155 kW). An AMG model is probably considered too and could be powered by a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter turbocharged mill producing about 354 HP (260 kW).
