Kia has introduced the Provo concept, after several photos surfaced the Internet last weekend.
The Asian automaker is previewing an upcoming B-segment vehicle with the Provo concept. This is a compact car measuring 3.88 meters long, 1.77 meters wide and 1.35 meters tall, with a 2.53 meters wheelbase. Its styling is the result of a Frankfurt-based team led by Gregory Guillaume.
It boasts a wraparound windscreen, frameless doors, 19-inch milled aluminum wheels and special bumper inserts. Designers said they took their inspiration from cars like the Fiat 500 Abarth, Innocenti Mini De Tomaso and the Alfa GT Junior. The interior cabin shows an aluminum mount holding the starter button and transmission selector, while the climate controls and instruments are available on LCD screens.
Under the bonnet is the same engine which powers the GT versions of the cee'd and pro_cee'd, a 1.6-liter Turbo GDi with 204 HP (150 kW), working together with an electric motor powering the rear wheels and providing an additional 45 HP (33 kW). The engine is connected to Kia's first 7-speed DCT transmission.
