Abarth has revealed a new special edition version of its Fiat 500-based 595 hot hatchback that’s designed to be more performance-focused. The little car is positioned somewhere between the basic 595 and the 595 Turismo in terms of pricing, although the car gets the same power output as the more expensive Turismo model.
That means there’s 165 horsepower (123 kilowatts) at the disposal of the driver’s right foot, courtesy of a 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that’s fitted with what Abarth describes as an "oversized" Garrett turbine and breathes out through a high-end Record Monza exhaust system. That’s a standard feature on the higher-end Competizione version, but doesn’t feature on the 595 Turismo.

Although the new turbocharger turbine doesn’t make the 595 Pista any more powerful than the Turismo, Abarth says it does change the power delivery. By changing the pressure in the combustion chamber, the car’s 170 pound-feet (230 Newton-meters) of torque can be delivered lower down the rev range, at 2,250 rpm.
The Pista has also been bestowed with a Koni rear suspension set-up, which features something called Frequency Selective Damping, or FSD for short. The system essentially tunes the suspension to suit the road surface and speed, with the aim of providing more stability and comfort.
Other mechanical features include the specific Abarth braking system, which grips ventilated 284 mm discs on the front and 240 mm discs on the rear. The car also has an automated manual gearbox, which effectively works as an automatic, but also has shift paddles to allow the driver to take control with sequential shifts.
Externally, the Pista is set apart by its special livery, which incorporates matt grey paint and bright green details. The door mirror caps, splitter, and wheel centers are all green, which contrasts with the black of the diffuser, alloy wheels, and front grille surrounds. The car also gets special Pista badging on the tailgate to denote its special-edition credentials.
Inside, there are new seats that honor the Italian car manufacturer’s 70th anniversary, with Abarth 70 lettering on the backrests. The seats themselves are racing-style buckets wrapped in new upholstery, while the cabin also features a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It’s a version of the same Uconnect system seen across the Fiat range, and it comes with an HD screen, DAB radio, and the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity systems.
Also mounted on the dashboard is a flat-bottomed sports steering wheel, as well as a sports button that modifies the car’s characteristics for more spirited driving. The system tweaks the peak torque output, as well as changing the power steering settings and throttle response.

The Abarth 595 Pista special edition is being refreshed. As focused on performance as ever, it is dedicated to the younger fans of the Scorpion. The 595 Pista is even more powerful. With a new engine and new Garrett turbine delivering 165 hp, it is equipped with the iconic Record Monza Active exhaust and Koni rear suspension with FSD (Frequency Selective Damping) technology that enhances driving performance by offering greater road-hold, handling and stability in total safety.
The new, oversized Garrett turbocharger with geometric compression ratio reduced from 9.8:1 to 9:1 optimises temperature in the combustion chamber at equal pressure, and allows peak torque (230 Nm) to be achieved at a lower rpm (2250 to be precise), while top power is delivered at top revs. This implies benefits in terms of top speed (218 km/h) and, above all, improves pick-up. In fifth gear, the new Pista goes from 80 to 120 km/h in 7.8 seconds.
The 595 Pista is packed with all the standard equipment needed to secure the thrilling driving pleasure typical of the cars with the Scorpion brand. For instance, it has a racing steering wheel with cut bottom and centring mark at the top of the crown, which is particularly useful for sporty driving, and with the "Sport" button that adjusts peak torque output, power steering settings and throttle. The braking system is specific to Abarth and ensures top-notch safety by fitting ventilated 284 mm discs on the front and 240 mm discs on the rear. The new Pista also features a five-speed automatic transmission with shift paddles.
New livery and adrenaline-packed details
The colour palette of the new Abarth 595 Pista includes matte Grey, in addition to Record Grey, Campovolo Grey, Scorpione Black, Podio Blue, Gara White, Abarth Red, Modena Yellow and Adrenalina Green. On the outside, the brand-new Adrenaline Kit features green accents on the front and rear bumper inserts and the side mirror caps. The hubcaps finish is also green. The new upholstery makes a statement inside with diamond patterns on the standard sports seats or a genuine racing look on the Sabelt 70 seats, the latter available on demand.
Always connected, even on the track
Being targeted to young motorists, the car naturally implements the best in connectivity at the service of performance. It is equipped with Apple CarPlay and Google Android AutoTM with UconnectTM 7 "HD system as standard, navigator and DAB digital radio. The infotainment system has a high-def screen and Abarth Telemetry, an integrated application created to measure performance.

The logos will appear on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter social media channels to identify various contents, such as enthusiasm for the brand, performance, racing, news, innovation, technology and infotainment. Furthermore, one-of-a-kind creativity will be used to mark the most important appointments on the Abarth calendar from September to December, every month.
