The production version of the Lamborghini Urus could feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain variant, according to latest report.
Lamborghini hasn't green-lighted the company's first ever SUV yet, but if they will, Italian website Ansa says it will get a plug-in hybrid powertrain variant. They also mention the Urus is nearing production approval and this could be accurate since chairman Stephan Winkelmann mentioned earlier this month his top priority is putting the Urus into production.
The Lamborghini Urus will probably share its platform with the next generation Audi Q7 which has already been confirmed by Audi's CEO Rupert Stadler to get a plug-in hybrid variant. Reports are indicating the Urus will have a V8 engine working together with electric motors producing a combined output of 670 hp (500 kW).
Winkelmann told Ansa that if approved, the Urus could be offered with a second powertrain but he refused to share additional details.
