Marques first FlexFuel model

Starting this September, the Citroen C4 BioFlex will be made available in selected countries (first France and Sweden before additional countries like The Netherlands) following the Peugeot 307 BioFlex, which shares the same 1.6 liter engine.

The C4 will only change under the hood where the new E85 capable 1.6 liter engine, producing 82kW of power with 153Nm torque, can be found. The BioFlex engine reduces CO2 emissions from the car by 5%. E85 fuel is made up of 85% bioethanol (alcohol produced by fermentation of sugar from plants) mixed with 15% petrol.

The C4 BioFlex comes at the same price as the 1.6i 16V petrol models (starting at 18,650 Euro), but Citroen is eager to point out that the Cost per Kilometer can be reduced by 1,39 euro cents (calculation done in France). Sweden leads the way with 650 Bio Fuel pumps at gas stations around the country and 13% of cars sold in Sweden in 2006 were Flexfuel models.

More details on the how's and why's in the press release below.
