Chevrolet recently unveiled the 2014 Corvette Stingray, so naturally the rumor mill has shifted focus to the highly-anticipated Z06 and ZR1 successors.

Motor Trend is reporting the new Z06 will keep its 7.0-liter V8 engine but see a huge power increase from 505 bhp (377 kW) to 600 bhp (447 kW). If this pans out, the model would only have 38 bhp (24 kW) less than the outgoing ZR1.

Speaking of the latter model, the next-generation ZR1 is expected to use a supercharged version of the new 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine. There's no consensus on how much power it will develop, but rumors suggest it could have 675 bhp (503 kW) or 700 bhp (522 kW). The final numbers could have an impact of the Z06's output as Chevrolet wants to give the ZR1 a distinct advantage.

Speculation suggests the Z06 is at least a year off, so don't expect to see the ZR1 until the 2015 or 2016 model year.
