Following yesterday's teaser, Chevrolet has revealed the 2014 SS "rear-wheel-drive performance sedan" which goes on sale in Q4 2013.
Under the hood is a 6.2-liter Chevrolet V8 LS3 engine which is expected to produce 415 hp (309 kW) and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm) of torque. This makes it 35 hp (26 kW) and 35 lb-ft (47 Nm) less powerful than the Corvette Stingray. Connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission with TAPshift paddles, the SS will need about five seconds to complete the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run.
Other highlights of the 2014 Chevrolet SS include a MacPherson strut front and a multilink independent rear suspension, Brembo brake kit with ventilated 355mm rotors and four-piston, two-piece front calipers, along with electronic power steering optimized for sporty driving.
The vehicle sits on 19x8.5 inch front wheels with 245/40 ZR19 tires and 19x9 inch rear wheels wrapped around with 275/35 ZR19 Bridgestone tires. The 2014 SS has an almost 50/50 weight distribution and a low center of gravity thanks to an aluminum bonnet and rear deck lid.
Inside it has enough room for five adults, with 42 inches of front legroom and 39 inches of rear legroom. Leather upholstery is offered standard, and so are eight-way power-adjustable front bucket seats, ice blue ambient lightning, push-button start, nine-speaker Bose audio system and a color heads-up display.
