The diesel version of the U.S.-spec Chevrolet Cruze has been introduced in Chicago this week.
Following an announcement made at the end of January, Chevrolet is showcasing the 2014 Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel at the Chicago Auto Show. At its heart is the "cleanest passenger car diesel engine General Motors has ever produced" in the form of a 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 148 hp (110 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque.
The sedan is able to run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 8.6 seconds and can return an estimated 42 mpg US (50.4 mpg UK or 5.6 liters / 100 km) on the highway. Chevrolet says clean diesels generate at least 90 percent less nitrogen oxide and particulate emissions in comparison to older diesel engines.
The 2014 Chevrolet Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel has a starting price of 25,695 USD which includes destination and a two-year maintenance plan.
