Alfa Romeo is putting the finishing touches on the highly-anticipated 4C as our spies have caught a lightly camouflaged prototype undergoing testing in Italy.

Looking virtually production ready, the car closely mirrors the original concept but features a new hood, larger mirrors and traditional door handles. There's also a new diffuser and restyled taillights.

Power will likely be provided by a turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that develops approximately 230 hp (172 kW). It will likely be paired to a dual-clutch transmission which could enable the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in less than five seconds and hit a top speed of roughly 250 km/h (155 mph).

The Alfa Romeo 4C will on go on sale later this year, so look for a possible unveiling in Geneva.
