Jeep CEO Mike Manley has revealed the brand's upcoming entry-level model will be a proper Jeep despite being related to the Fiat 500X.
Jeep CEO Mike Manley has revealed some new details about the brand's entry-level model which will go into production in 2014.
Speaking to Wards Auto, Manley stressed the model would be a 'proper' Jeep despite being related to the Fiat 500X. As he explained, "[It's] a Jeep with Jeep DNA.” To firm up his point, Manley confirmed there will be a Trail Rated version which will have enough off-road prowess to tackle difficult terrain.
In related news, Manley announced plans to introduce the Liberty successor at the New York Auto Show. He said the company hasn't decided on a name for the vehicle, but it will be badged as a Liberty or Cherokee. The executive also revealed the Compass/Patriot replacement will come in late 2014 and wear either the Compass or Patriot moniker.
