The Pagani Huayra is now the fastest production car around the Top Gear test track.
Season 19th of Top Gear's show started with a bang as the Pagani Huayra was able to dethrone the Ariel Atom V8. With the Stig establishing a time of 1:13.8, the Huayra beat the Atom's 1:15.1 old record. As a reminder, the Pagani Zonda R did it in 1:08.5 while the Ferrari FXX driven by Michael Schumacher finished the lap in 1:10.7, but neither of the two can be driven legally on public roads.
The Huayra was able to break the record thanks to its AMG-sourced V12 6.0-liter bi-turbo engine delivering 730 HP (537 kW) and 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm). The 2,975 lbs (1,350 kg) supercar can perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) run in 3.2 seconds before hitting a top speed of 230 mph (370 km/h).
