With the special Astra OPC “Nürburgring Editionâ€ÂÂÂ, Opel now raises the connection to the Nordschleife to a new level.
The Opel OPC range is a sporty one but Opel, who eagerly calls the Nordschleife their territory, does not stop there. In order to make OPC cars known to the masses, Opel has started the OPC Race Camp (now in its fourth round) where an initial 18.500 contestants are vying for one of eight spots on the Opel team for the 2008 24-hours race at the 'Ring. Manuel Reuter, who has set the vehicle class record in 2005 with the Opel Astra OPC, is training these ordinary drivers to the level they need to be on.
Now we can feast our eyes on the white lacquered Opel Astra OPC Nurburgring Edition, a special edition which celebrates Opel's connection to the Nurburgring. The car comes with white paint, carbon mirrors and B-pillar, second generation IDSPlus2 chassis, light-weight rims, full leather interior trim with carbon detailing and 240 hp (177kW) from the 2.0 liter turbo engine which is capable of a 0-100km/h time of 6,4 seconds. The Astra OPC Nurburgring Edition will be at dealers in the first quarter of 2008.
