The revival of the Alpine brand is inching closer as Renault has appointed a new Advisory Board.

This isn't ground breaking news, but its members aren't the typical set accountants and penny-pinchers. Instead, the group consists of people who have close ties to Alpine and its racing pedigree.

Key members include Jean-Charles Rédelé (who is the son of the brand’s founder - Jean Rédelé), Jean-Pierre Limondin (a former Alpine engineer) and Alain Serpaggi (a former rally driver and Alpine test drivers). There's also Alpine collector Hervé Charbonneaux as well as World Rally Champion Bernard Darniche.

While the board is largely symbolic, they will meet twice a year to discuss the development and launch of the new Alpine sports car.
