The Chevrolet Malibu will be getting an early facelift and new details are starting to emerge about what will change in the updated model.

According to sources, Chevrolet will try to make the interior more appealing. This normally implies adding higher quality materials, but the company appears to be focusing a new backseat which will give rear passengers additional legroom.

On the styling front, the Malibu is expected to feature a revised front fascia that echoes the Traverse and Impala.  We can also expect some minor changes out back, but nothing is official as of yet.

Engine options will likely carryover, so expect choices to include a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 197 hp (147 kW), a hybridized 2.4-liter four-cylinder with 182 hp (136 kW) and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 259 hp (193 kW).

The updated Malibu will be launched later this year, so expect to learn more in the coming months.
