Set to enter competition later this year, the model has a revised aerodynamics package, an upgraded ECU and an improved electrical system. Engineers also installed new dampers and an upgraded cooling system. McLaren says these changes will help to improve the car's efficiency and reliability.
Last year's model was only available to European-based GT teams, but the new version will be offered to international GT teams as well as collectors and non-race users. As part of the change, the model will be used by Clearwater Racing and Sébastien Loeb Racing.
The car is powered by a twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine that is connected to a six-speed sequential transmission. It remains unclear if the updated ECU has improved the engine's output depending on homologation rules, but last year it developed at 500 HP (368 kW).
The 2013 McLaren MP4-12C GT3 is currently available for order and pricing starts at £325,000 (£389,780 / $518,930).
