Chevrolet and GMC have introduced the 2014 Silverado and Sierra North American International Auto Show.
Designed to battle the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500, the pickups have an evolutionary design with a prominent grille, larger headlights and a dual 'power dome' hood. There's also flared fenders and a new CornerStep rear bumper which allows for easy access to the bed. Extended cab models also benefit from new front-hinged rear doors for improved entry and exit.
Both trucks have an updated interior that features a new dashboard as well as a six-gauge instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch Driver Information Center. Customers can also order leather upholstery, heated seats and a MyLink infotainment system.
Under the hood, three new EcoTec3 engines are available including a 4.3-liter V6, a 5.3-liter V8 and a 6.2-liter V8. Detailed specifications haven't been announced, but the engines feature direct injection, continuously variable valve timing and cylinder deactivation technology.
The 2014 Silverado and Sierra will go on sale later this year and pricing will be announced closer to launch.
