Dodge has launched in Detroit a more powerful GT version of the Dart, before the range-topping SRT4 arrives next year.

The warm GT variant has a 4-cylinder, 2.4-liter Tigershark engine good enough for 184 hp (137 kW) and 174 lb-ft (236 Nm) of torque. This engine can be linked to either a standard 6-speed manual or an optional 6-speed PowerTech automatic transmission.

The model is based on the Dart Limited and is distinguished by 18-inch alloys, dual exhaust system and a Hyper Black front grille. Inside it receives Nappa leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and a heated steering wheel. It also boasts heated front seats, a digital instrument cluster and the Uconnect infotainment system featuring an 8.4-inch touchscreen display.

Slated to go into production in Q2 2013, the Dodge Dart GT starts from 20,995 USD.
