The question is, what do you get for 24 grand?
Mazda's much anticipated SUV with "a soul of a sports car," the brand new CX-7, has gone on sale in the UK on September 1, retailing at an on-the-road price of £23,960. The question is, what do you get for 24 grand?
Well, for starters Mazda says it has brought its unique 'Zoom-Zoom' sports car attitude to the traditional SUV sector" in the sense that the CX-7 is "heavily oriented towards a sports car in its styling" but still offers a strong road presence and that much desired SUV driving position. Unlike its Detroit-based adversaries, Mazda hasn't shoved a V8 under the bonnet of the CX-7. Instead he 4.68-metre CX-7 is powered by the same 2.3-litre four-cylinder 260 bhp turbocharged engine as the Mazda 3 and 6 MPS models and brings power to the wheels through an "Active Torque" four-wheel drive system. With the standard six-speed gearbox the CX-7 is capable of a 0-to-60mph sprint in 8.0 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph.
The CX-7 certainly offers a generous level of standard equipment, with leather seats, Xenon headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, air-conditioning, cruise control, parking sensors in front and rear, a BOSE premium surround audio system and much more as standard. Available in five different exterior colours and two interior colours, the CX-7 is now on show in your Mazda dealership.
