MINI has officially revealed the 2013 Paceman John Cooper Works (JCW), following yesterday's leak.

It comes with the familiar 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that produces 214 hp (160 kW) and 207 lb-ft (280 Nm) or 221 lb-ft (300 Nm) with overboost. It can run the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint in 6.9 seconds, regardless if it has the standard 6-speed manual or the optional 6-speed automatic transmission. Fitted with the manual, it can reach a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h) while with the automatic it does 139 mph (223 km/h).

MINI's engineers have fitted the Paceman JCW with a sport chassis and as a result the car sits 10mm lower than the standard variant. Other upgrades include larger anti-roll bars along with optimized spring and damper rates. In terms of styling, we notice a more aggressive body kit and standard 18-inch alloy wheels (19-inch optional).

Inside there's a Sport button installed on the center console that when activated can sharpen the throttle response, stiffen up the steering and modify the exhaust note. For the models with the automatic gearbox it will shorten the shift times.

In normal driving conditions, the AWD system sends 50 percent of power to rear wheels via an electromagnetic center differential, while in extreme conditions the entire horsepower is sent to the rear axle.

Scheduled to make its public debut next month at the Detroit Motor Show, the 2013 MINI Paceman JCW will reach showrooms in UK in mid-March at a starting price of 29,535 GBP. In the US the market launch will also commence in March but no pricing details have been announced yet.

Full details are available in the attached press release.
