Saab could get back in the game as early as next year with a new gasoline-running 9-3 model.

Saab is taking into consideration launching a gasoline-running 9-3 next year.

It was only last week when a NEVS spokesperson told that a conventional-powered model is a possibility before the EVs arrive. In an interview given yesterday to Automotive News Europe, a company spokesman confirmed that Saab might be relaunched next year with a new 9-3 running on gasoline.

Mikael Oestlund declared that "we are evaluating the possibility to start production around next summer of a 9-3 with a traditional powertrain." A decision will be made after the talks with the firm's former component suppliers.

The reason why Saab wants this is to raise funds and maintain the brand's awareness until 2014 when EV sales will commence.
