Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann says demand for ultraluxury cars probably won’t grow next year.
He made this statement based on the dragging European debt situation and slowing Chinese economy growth. In an interview given to Bloomberg, he said that “we are very cautious for next year” as “the European crisis is not over”.
To offset slower sales in Europe and China, Lamborghini is expanding in markets like Singapore and Hong Kong, while in April this year they’ve opened a second dealership in India.
What we can understand from this is that the Urus SUV concept probably won’t get a production version next year. Winkelmann declared that “to engage in such a project, it's adding a third model, and for us, this will be a huge step and huge investment.”
Hopefully, Lamborghini will stop with all those Gallardo special editions and come out with an entirely new model which is long overdue.
