With its latest CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake ad, Mercedes-Benz describes CLS rivals as imitators.

Mercedes-Benz has released a new ad for the CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake.

With Phil Collins' "In the air tonight" playing in the background, Mercedes refers to CLS-Class competitors as imitators. Although names are not directly mentioned, we can imagine they are referring to Audi's A7, BMW's 6-Series GranCoupe and Porsche's Panamera. The commercial points out that although critics were initially skeptical in regards to their first four-door coupe, soon after rival companies launched similar models. Therefore, given the fact that this is essentially a commercial for the CLS Shooting Brake variant, is Mercedes honking their own horn again by implying that the competition will once again "imitate" with shooting brake variants?

As a reminder, the more practical CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake is powered by the same 5.5-liter V8 twin-turbo as the four-door coupe version, pumping out 518 hp (386 kW) and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. When fitted with the optional AMG Performance Package, power is increased to 550 hp (410 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm).
