Scion has announced Chris Basselgia has been declared the winner of the 2012 FR-S Tuner Challenge.

Scion has announced Chris Basselgia has been declared the winner of the 2012 FR-S Tuner Challenge.

Basselgia’s Minty FReSh FR-S featured an Eaton supercharger, a billet intake manifold, an IAG Performance intercooler and a stainless steel exhaust system. Other highlights included high-performance brakes, an Airlift suspension and 19-inch Rotiform Super Concave wheels with Falken FK453 tires.

According to Scion auto shows and events manager Steve Hatanaka, “The Minty FReSh entry builds fantastically on the core appeal and sports car intention of the FR-S with each impressive custom piece." He continued, "All three Scion Tuner Challenge participants added an extra level of originality and class to the first-time SEMA appearance for the FR-S. Every Scion owner imagining the possibilities should look to these entries for inspiration.”

Each of the participants were given three months and a $15,000 budget to build their customized FR-S for the SEMA Motor Show. For winning, Basselgia will receive a $10,000 grand prize.
