Last month BMW managed to boost sales in the U.S. by 21 percent, getting closer to Mercedes-Benz in luxury sales.
BMW’s U.S. division saw a 21 percent increase last month, narrowing the gap in the luxury sales battle with Mercedes-Benz.
It was only yesterday when we talked about Mercedes-Benz offering various incentives to keep its edge over BMW, but it seems that their efforts might not be enough judging by BMW’s October sales. Last month BMW’s sales went up to 26,451 units, representing a 21 percent increase.
Mercedes-Benz announced that in October they managed to deliver 23,978 cars (5.9 percent more than in 2011), while Toyota sold 19,850 cars (up by 9.7 percent).
While at the end of September Mercedes was in the lead with 5,221 more cars sold than BMW, this difference has gone down to 2,748 units. It is important to mention that these numbers do not include Daimler’s cargo vans and Smart cars or BMW’s MINI since these are not luxury cars.
