The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD will get a hardcore setup with a two-door Regular Cab body and dual-wheel rear axle, according to these spy shots. The configuration would likely appeal to buyers who have a complete priority on hauling ability at the detriment of carrying passengers.

For the 2019 model year, the Silverado 3500HD with a dually rear is only available as a four-door Crew Cab with a long bed. If you want this Regular Cab body, then the Silverado 2500HD is available that way. However, the dually on this 2020 3500HD would provide better stability during heavy hauling.

The interior of this configuration should be the same as the rest of the lineup. Top trims offer lots of leather with two-tone upholstery. Customers can order features like a 15-camera system that offers a clear view of the outside, even during trailering. Other hauling aids are trailer sway control and trailer brake control.

Buyers have two engine options. A 6.6-liter V8 makes 401 horsepower (299 kilowatts) with 464 pound-feet (629 Newton-meters) of torque and comes with a six-speed automatic gearbox. For really heavy hauling, a 6.6-liter turbodiesel offers 445 hp (332 kW) and 910 lb-ft (1,234 Nm), and it uses an Allison-supplied, 10-speed automatic transmission.

It's not clear when Chevy might launch this variant of the Silverado HD, but the company says the first examples of the pickup go on sale at dealers this summer. The truck in these photos appears production ready, though, so an introduction before the end of the year seems likely.
