Based on a lengthened Polo PQ25 platform just like the Seat Toledo and Skoda Rapid, the notchback sedan has a 2630mm wheelbase and offers 480 liters of cargo capacity. Safety features include ABS, ESC electronic stabilization program along with front, side and head airbags. Depending on equipment line, the Santana comes with air conditioning or automatic climate control, alloy wheels, electric sliding sunroof, leather upholstery and parking sensors.

In China it will be sold in Trendline, Comfortline and Highline versions, with a choice of two 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated engines, a 1.4-liter with 90 HP (66 kW) and a 1.6-liter producing 110 HP (81 kW). Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions have been reduced by 28 percent compared to the outgoing model.
