World Luxury Car: Audi A7
Audi is a regular to the WCA luxury car category, with the A7 getting the nod this year. The spacious Sportback has an elegant design with impressive performance, and its tech-infused greenhouse is an inviting host for long-distance road trips.
World Green Car: Jaguar I-Pace
The Jaguar I-Pace isn't just a handsome SUV. Its all-electric powertrain gives it a range of 234 miles between charges while also packing a performance punch with 0-60 times in the mid-four-second range.
World Performance Car: McLaren 720S
The McLaren 720S has wowed the world time and again with its sizzling performance. Its blistering straight-line acceleration is enough to challenge the purpose-built Dodge Challenger Demon at a drag strip, while also biting hard in the corners and blasting beyond 200 mph.
World Car Design: Jaguar I-Pace
Here's the second appearance for the Jaguar I-Pace, this time for design. Whereas many electric vehicles tend to go a bit bonkers on looks, the I-Pace manages to be both muscular and comfortably conservative. The result is a well-proportioned, handsome shape that stands out in the SUV world.
World Urban Car: Suzuki Jimny
The World Urban Car is a relatively new award that focuses on small city vehicles. Though the plucky Suzuki Jimny is an effective off-road machine, the small boxy shape is practical and easily maneuverable in close quarters, and it has one of the strongest cult followings of any vehicle available today.
World Car Of The Year: Jaguar I-Pace
This is the first time in WCA's history that a single vehicle claimed victory in three categories. The I-Pace impresses not just as a capable all-electric SUV, but also with its good looks, exceptional performance, and every-day capability.
World Person Of The Year: Sergio Marchionne
In addition to recognizing cars, WCA this year gave a posthumous award to FCA’s former CEO Sergio Marchionne, who passed away rather suddenly last summer. WCA actually issued this award in March during the Geneva Motor Show, recognizing Marchionne not only for his successes with numerous automakers, but also for his genuine, tremendous passion for all things automotive.
