These are the first images with the upcoming 2014 Mazda3 that will be launched in mid-2013 and will go on sale as a 2014 model. The company’s UK division says that these are digital renderings to show the car’s Kodo design language but even so we get an idea of how the car will look.
It will be available as a 5-door hatchback and a 4-door sedan, while the design is heavily influenced by the recently introduced Mazda6. It has a similar front grille with a chrome trim flowing into the headlights, while the sides of the car show the masculine wheel arches and an upswept crease mark.
As previously reported, the next generation of the Mazda3 is expected to have a lower curb weight and will benefit from the company’s SkyActiv fuel-saving technology. The U.S. version should get a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter gasoline engine with 155 hp (116 kW). A high-performance Mazdaspeed3 is also in the works.
