In a recent interview, Toyota product planning chief Karl Schlicht hinted at a high-performance Auris.
Toyota could launch a high-performance Auris, if the standard model proves to be successful.
Speaking with Autocar, Toyota product planning chief Karl Schlicht said a sporty Auris is "not a number one priority" but there is "room to experiment." He added, "The key thing for us is to run a good business first and then start having fun later."
No details have been officially confirmed, but the model would likely have an aggressive body kit that borrows a few cues from the Modellista variant. There could also be a high-performance engine as the most powerful Auris is currently the hybrid variant that has a combined output of 134 hp (100 kW) and 142 Nm (105 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the hatchback to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 10.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 112 mph (180 km/h).
