Ratan Tata has announced the Nano will arrive in the United States in 2015. It will feature additional standard equipment including a larger engine.

Tata Group chairman Ratan Tata has announced the Nano will arrive in the United States in 2015.

Speaking with Automotive News, Tata said "We are redesigning the Nano for both Europe and the U.S." He also revealed it will have traction control, power steering and a larger engine. Despite the upgrades, the model will cost less than $10,000 (€7,715).

It remains unclear if the changes will be enough to attract buyers in mature markets, but Tata said "We hope that the sub-$10,000 car has appeal."

There's no word on how the Nano will be sold, but the CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America said there haven't been any discussions about using their dealer network to sell the pint-sized model.
