The GLS-Class will be able to carry three rows of occupants in complete comfort while soaking up any bumps in the road.
This will likely be the final look at the Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class in camouflage because the production model will debut at the New York Auto Show on April 17. The model will be the most luxurious SUV in the brand's ranks, at least until the inevitable Maybach variants arrive.

Mercedes only bothers to cover the front and rear of this test mule, and the concealment isn't especially effective at hiding much. The GLS has a brawny, upright grille with fairly large intakes in the corners of the front fascia. From the side, the SUV has a long, boxy body. At the back trapezoidal exhaust outlets integrate into the bumper.
In its New York debut announcement, Mercedes promises the GLS to be "the S-Class among SUVs. Compared to the existing generation, the new one has a wheelbase that is 2.362 inches (60 millimeters) longer, and this translates to more space for occupants, particularly in the second row. Folks in all three rows have power seats to play with, too. For greater comfort, the big vehicle has adaptive dampers with power coming from the 48-volt electrical network on board.
The new GLS will eventually spawn a Maybach SUV with a price around $200,000. Mercedes will build the opulent SUV in Alabama, making the model the most expensive new vehicle assembled in the United States. Power will come from a V8 making over 560 horsepower (418 kilowatts).
Mercedes will have a lot more to show in New York, beyond just the new GLS. The GLC Coupe and Performance variants of the GLC and GLC Coupe will also be there. Plus, the company will show the electric EQC Edition 1886. Car fans will be able to check out the Mercedes-AMG CLA 35 and A35 sedans, too.
