Porsche has announced the introduction of the 2013 Cayenne Turbo S, a new flagship in the lineup that will go on sale next year.
The second generation of the Porsche Cayenne now has a new flagship model as the German automaker has revealed the Turbo S variant which is scheduled to reach the UK and German market in January at a starting price of 107,460 pounds and 151,702 euros, respectively.
Under the hood it has the same V8 4.8-liter engine found in the Turbo version and also in the Panamera Turbo S but benefits from additional modifications, like increased turbocharger boost pressure, more free flowing inlet manifold and remapped electronics.
Thanks to these changes, the power unit produces an additional 50 hp (37 kW), increasing the total output to an impressive 550 hp (410 kW). The torque figure is also up by 37 lb-ft (50 Nm) to 553 lb-ft (749 Nm), allowing the car to perform the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint 0.2 seconds quicker than before, while the top speed has been increased by 3 mph (4.8 km/h).
Porsche says that the 2013 Cayenne Turbo S is capable of returning 24.6 mpg UK (20.4 mpg US or 11.4 liters / 100 km), with CO2 emissions standing at 270 g/km. The SUV’s chassis configuration has been borrowed from the Cayenne Turbo and we are dealing with the same air suspension, along with the firm’s active damping control with hydraulically-operated roll bars and a torque vectoring system. There’s also an electronically-controlled rear differential lock.
As far as the design is concerned, we notice the black high gloss accents on the headlamp and mirror housings, as well as a new set of 21-inch alloys exclusive for this flagship model. The cabin features leather upholstery and carbon trim.
