The VDS GT 001 is a Belgian supercar created by Raphael van der Straeten based on the 2011 Gillet Vertigo.

This is the VDS GT 001, a Belgian supercar developed by Raphael van der Straeten. It is based on the Gillet Vertigo and comes with the same Maserati-sourced V8 4.2-liter engine. In this version, the engine develops 480 hp (358 kW) and is connected to a 6-speed sequential gearbox. No word yet about the performances of the vehicle, but we do know that production will be limited to only 22 units at a yet undisclosed price.

It should be a pretty fast car though, taking into consideration that a lot of the body parts are made from carbon fiber. The aforementioned Gillet Vertigo features a chassis made from nomex/carbon that allowed the engineers to keep the curb weight of the car at only 990 kg (2182 pounds).

The creator of the car, Raphael van der Straeten, has been involved in racing for several years with a Mustang FR500 GT3 and chances are that the GT 001 has some American flavor in it. Also in the works is a track-only R version which will most likely be lighter and more powerful.
