Volkswagen has presented at this year's Paris show the more rugged Cross version of the Caddy.

Following the Cross recipe used for the Polo, Golf and Touran, Volkswagen has introduced in Paris a similar variant of the Caddy. This rugged version is based on the Edition 30 model and comes with a protective armor with plastic moldings for the wheel arches, side sills and the lower areas of the bumpers.

We also notice the tinted windows, front and rear undercarriage guards and the side impact protection bars, while the car is sitting on a new set of 17-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, there are two-tone front seats, a height- and length-adjustable central armrest and leather trim with grey stitching for the gear knob and the handbrake lever.

Under the hood it can get any of the engines offered by VW for the Caddy, with outputs varying from 85 hp (63 kW) to 168 hp (125 kW). For more money, these engines can be linked to a DSG transmission. Offered as a five- or a seven-seater with a short wheelbase, the Cross Caddy is also available with the firm’s 4MOTION four-wheel drive system.

Will go on sale early next year.
