The Peugeot 208 TYPE R5 is scheduled to go on sale in the second half of 2013.
After Peugeot showed us the 208 R2 rally car back in May, the French automaker is back with the 208 TYPE R5 which will be showcased at this year’s edition of the Paris Motor Show. Set to replace the 207 Super 2000, this new model will take part in its first rallies in the second half of next year.
The Peugeot 208 TYPE R5 is powered by a 4-cylinder 1.6-liter engine with 280 bhp (208 kW) at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) at 2,500 rpm. This is a four-wheel drive car fitted with a five-speed sequential gearbox and two self-locking differentials. The rally car is 3962 mm long, 1820mm wide and has a 2560 mm wheelbase. The shell of the vehicle is about 40 kg lighter in comparison to the outgoing 207 Super 2000.
