Switzer’s R1K-X Red Katana has 300 percent more power and a better interior, but weighs an extra 300 pounds.
Last month we talked about Switzer’s R1K-X Red Katana that managed to do the quarter mile in 8.97 seconds and now we have more details to share about this 1,400 hp+ beast. It’s wearing a two-tone paint finish and has received a functional aerodynamic body kit with a new front splitter and a rear decklid spoiler.
David Kim who is the CEO of Switzer Performance said that the only drawback of the GT-R is the interior cabin as it’s still a Nissan after all. The customer who owns this car wanted higher specification materials and quilted leather inserts, as well as a better audio system. The drawback? The Red Katana is now 300 lbs heavier than the standard model, but Switzer says that it’s 300 percent more powerful.
Motivation comes from the Switzer built-and-blueprinted VR38 Nissan power unit that has received reinforced rods and pistons, tuner-specific cams, a MONSTER intercooler system, PKG cooling and a SS90 exhaust system. It also has a Syvecs standalone ECU tuned by Switzer, all for allowing the Red Katana to provide more than 1250 hp at the wheels.
