General Motors has reportedly canceled their hybrid program for the next-generation of full-size pickups and SUVs.

General Motors has reportedly canceled their hybrid program for the next-generation of full-size pickups and SUVs.

Details are limited, but GM Inside News is reporting that several sources have confirmed the program has been shutdown. It's unusual for a program to be canceled so close to launch, but many aren't surprised by the move because the first-generation of hybrid pickups and SUVs failed to ignite consumer interest.

While models like the Silverado / Sierra and Tahoe / Yukon will forgo hybrid technology, rumors suggest the next-generation Cadillac Escalade might be spared from a similar fate.
