Citroen has decided to unveil the DS3 Cabrio before its public debut next month at the Paris Motor Show. It will be available with a choice of three soft top roof styles: Infinite blue, black and DS Monogrammed design. The original tailgate opening action along with the innovative “3D rear light signature” add more refinement to this posh model.
The French automaker says that the DS3 Cabrio is the only model in its class that can accommodate five people and it also has the largest boot capacity (245 liters). The vehicle is 3.95m long, 1.71m wide and 1.46m high, while the design has been kept in the lines of the regular DS3. Inside it features LED ambient lighting installed on the ceiling console where the roof opening controls are located.
It manages to offer the same interior space as the hatchback and features a 60/40 split-folding rear bench. The tailgate uses a circular motion that allows the owner of the car to fully open the boot even when the vehicle is parked in a tight spot.
The DS3 Cabrio is only 25 kg (55 lbs) heavier than its hatchback counterpart and it takes 16 seconds for the roof to be fully closed. This can be done at speeds of up to 75 mph (120 km/h) and there are three positions to choose from: intermediate, horizontal and total. The passengers sitting in the back still have a clear view overhead when the roof is in horizontal setting.
The Citroen DS3 Cabrio will go on sale at the beginning of next 2013 and it will be manufactured at the company’s Poissy production site in France.
