The Ingolstadt-based automaker Audi has conducted a survey this month regarding how people drive their convertibles, with the top up or down. The survey was done in the UK which is one of the largest markets in the world for convertible cars. The results show that 64% of those who own a convertible in Britain either never or rarely take the roof down.

46% of the owners polled said that they the primary reason for opting for a soft top is the car’s exotic look rather than the wind-in-the-hair driving appeal. Among those who prefer driving with the top down, it seems that women do it more than men. 39% of the women said that they always drive with the top down, as opposed to 32% of the men.

Those between the ages of 25 and 34 years old are most likely to drive their convertibles with the top down, while 17% of the women polled said that they never drop the roof, compared to 27% of the men.
