A 1928 Mercedes-Benz 680S Saoutchik Torpedo has managed to win the "Best in Show" award at 2012 Pebble Beach.
There were lots of beautiful and interesting cars at this year’s edition of Pebble Beach but only one of them managed to win the “Best in Show” award. We are talking about this gorgeous 1928 Mercedes-Benz 680S Saoutchik Torpedo roadster motivated by a huge 6.8-liter supercharged engine. It was designed by Jacques Saoutchik, a French coach builder and in the present is owned by Paul & Judy Andrews who live in Texas. The last time a Mercedez-Benz won this award was back in 2001.
After the original owner of the vehicle died, the 680S remained in a garage for three decades. To get it to its current condition it needed a full restoration. After the process was completed the vehicle was sold at an auction during the 80s, while the current owner bought it two years ago.
At the 2012 Pebble Beach there were more than 220 vehicles on display, including 11 other Saoutchik models, but only this one took home the big prize.
