A fully customized Nissan GT-R prepared by Switzer Performance can do the quarter-mile in 8.97 seconds.
A week ago we talked about the Chevrolet COPO Camaro doing the quarter-mile in 8.88 seconds and now we have a look at Switzer’s R1KX GT-R “Red Katana” that can do it in 8.97 seconds at more than 163 mph (262 km/h). Developed by Switzer Performance in Oberlin, Ohio, the owner of this heavily customized Nissan GT-R calls its car “Red Katana” and it was one of the first R1KX GTRs modified by Switzer to reach the drag strip.
The 8.97s performance was achieved last weekend at Norwalk, Ohio’s Summit Motorsports Park. This is a heavily modified GT-R that comes with a quilted leather-lined interior cabin decked in Alcantara and carbon fiber. Other than that, it comes with additional goodies such as a premium sound system, but most of you will still prefer the sound of the 1,500 hp+ engine. This extra equipment has made the car 300 lbs (136 kg) heavier in comparison to the standard GT-R.
