Fiat has unveiled the 2013 500 Turbo at the Concorso Italiano in Monterey, California.

Designed to slot below the 500 Abarth, the model is distinguished by an aggressive front fascia, revised side skirts and 16-inch aluminum wheels. There's also a rear diffuser, a tailgate-mounted spoiler and a sports exhaust system.

Interior changes are limited but include sport seats, a new gear knob and a revised steering wheel with silver stitching. Customers can also order a Beats audio system with six speakers, a subwoofer and an amplifier.

Motivation is provided by a turbocharged 1.4-liter engine that produces 135 hp (101 kW / 137 PS) and 150 lb-ft (203 Nm) of torque - 34 hp (25 kW / 34 PS) and 52 lb-ft (70 Nm) more than the standard model. It is connected to a five-speed manual transmission that enables "quick acceleration and [a] faster top speed."

Engineers also installed a sport-tuned suspension, high-performance brakes and a revised steering system for improved handling.
