Audi has released a video of the R8 e-tron setting a new lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Driven by Markus Wankelhock, the car completed the course in just 8:09.099 minutes. This means the model was slower than the Toyota EV P001, but still fast enough to beat any other production electric vehicle.

As we have previously reported, the R8 e-tron has two electric motors that produce 313 PS (230 kW / 308 hp) and 820 Nm (605 lb-ft) of torque. They are powered by a 49 kWh lithium-ion battery which enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, hit a limited top speed of 200 km/h (124 mph) and travel up to 215 km (134 miles) on a single charge.

The Audi R8 e-tron will go on sale later this year, but pricing information hasn't been announced.
