According to sources, customers said "absolutely not, don't bring diesel anywhere near a Rolls-Royce, we won't buy it."  One source added that customers saw diesel engines as a "compromise" despite their impressive torque figures.

As you may recall, Rolls-Royce got a similar response when they explored EV technology with the 102EX concept. While some might have been interested, many felt the limited range made the model impractical.
