Toyota has announced plans to enter the Britcar 24 Hour endurance race with a new GT 86 race car.

Sporting livery inspired by the 1980's British Touring Car Championship AE86 Corolla GT, the model is currently under development at the Buckinghamshire Technical Centre of GPRM.

Detailed specifications haven't been released, but Toyota said they have an emphasis on "turning the potent sports car into a competitive track machine while retaining as much of the standard road car's specification as possible."

The Britcar 24 Hour endurance race will take place at the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on the weekend of September 22nd.
