Ford has announced plans to auction a one-off Mustang Red Tails Edition at the 2012 AirVenture Oshkosh event.

Designed to celebrate the Tuskegee Airmen, the bespoke model is based on the Mustang GT and features a matte aluminum exterior with Race Red and School Bus Yellow accents. The car also has a panoramic glass roof, side-mounted exhausts (inspired by the legendary P-51 Mustang), a rear diffuser and 20-inch alloy wheels.

To spruce up the cabin, designers added Recaro seats, unique instrumentation and a modified navigation screen. There's also special badging and unique floor mats with the 332nd Fighter Group logo.

For added performance, the car has been equipped with a Whipple supercharger, Brembo brakes and a handling package.

All proceeds will benefit the Experimental Aircraft Association Young Eagles program which provides free introductory flights to young people who are interested in flying.
