Chevrolet has belatedly released pictures of the 1LE Performance Package for the Camaro SS. The model was initially announced in March and comes with a number of upgrades aimed at track-day enthusiasts.
The optional package offers buyers an alternative to the range topping ZL1 model that commands a considerably higher price that may be out of reach of many enthusiasts.
The upgraded model is easily distinguished from its standard sibling by its a matte black hood, a front splitter, a rear spoiler and 20-inch 10-spoke ZL1-based alloy wheels wrapped with the same Goodyear Eagle Supercar G:2 tires that feature on the front wheels of the ZL1.
Under the skin, the 1LE package upgrades the front and rear stabilizer bars for improved body control as well as an improved fuel delivery system. The standard transmission meanwhile is replaced with a close ratio six-speed manual system, but the engines remain unchanged.
Chevrolet are also seeking approval from the SCCA (Sport Car Club of America) for approval to enter the 1LE package for Touring Class competition.
