After Mark Webber's Formula 1 win at the recent British Grand Prix, Renault has announced the Megane RS will receive a Red Bull Racing branded special edition to mark its successful partnership with the racing team. This follows the Twingo RB7 and Clio RB7 special editions announced earlier this year.

The new limited-edition Megane RS Red Bull Racing RB7 will be available in more than 24 countries after initial sales begin in July in Austria followed by France in September.

The Megane RB7's distinguishing features includes a Etoilé Black body color, yellow colored front bumper spoiler, mirrors and rear diffuser, chequered-flag pattern roof decal and Red Bull Racing's official logos on the doors. Inside there are Recaro bucket seats, a unique gear lever knob and a numbered plaque.

The highlight new feature is the addition of Stop&Start technology for the 2.0-liter 16V engine which produces 265 PS (261 bhp /195 kW) and 360 Nm (266 lb-ft) of torque. As a result, fuel consumption is just 7.5l/100km (down 0.7 l/100km) and CO2 emissions are 174g/km (down 16g/km). In France the eco-surtax is reduced by €550 from €1,300 to €750.

Sounds great, but it should be noted the full 265 PS can only be accessed when the Stop&Start system is deactivated by selecting "Sport" mode. To get maximum economy,"Normal" mode activates the Stop&Start system limiting total power output to 250 PS (246 bhp / 184 kW).
